Got Extra Energy Cards? Join the PKMNPals Trading Card Exchange!
As a casual player of the Pokemon Trading Card Game (Pokemon TCG), one of my favorite parts is participating in Pre-Releases.
These events, hosted by hobby shops when new sets come around, allow players to open packs and play rounds of the game with other Pokemon fans.
However, there is a downside to enjoying pre-releases: all the leftover cards.
That's why I came up with a neat little idea that I like to call PKMNPals Trading Card Exchange (proper name pending). The idea was inspired by my desire to have a pen pal, someone I could physically correspond with and exchange fun thoughts and ideas. In this digital age, the idea of getting physical mail that isn't a bill has become increasingly appealing.
So why not create a way to exchange Pokemon cards with other players?
Here's how the PKMNPals Trading Card Exchange would work:
You, the Pokemon fan, will mail me an Energy Card.
In return, I will mail back a Pokemon card of the corresponding type.
An example of how the PKMNPals Trading Card Exchange would work
If you send a fire-type energy, you would receive a fire-type Pokemon card.
If you send a water-type energy, you would receive a water-type Pokemon card.
If you send a double colorless energy, you would receive a normal-type Pokemon card.
I’ll do my best to send back a Pokemon card that matches the energy you send me. And if feel particularly generous, I may send you extra cards.
Spreading the word about PKMNPals
To spread the word about the exchange, we’d share pictures of our trades and post them on social media using the hashtag #PKMNpals. This would encourage others to participate and help build a community around the exchange.
Of course, this is just an idea. It's not a perfect system, but it could be a fun way to interact with other players while also slimming down on the number of cards I have.
